A few weeks ago I went to a press day which was showing the new Autumn/Winter 2012 collection from 70s super-designer Zandra Rhodes. I haven’t really been following what kind of designs Zandra has been coming out with these past few years, apart from some collaborations she has done with M&S which were not my cup of tea at all. So I was pleasantly surprised by how much of a return to form her most recent pieces are.
The small collection consisted mainly of tops and dresses in sheer chiffon or heavy satin, all printed in brightly coloured painterly style patterns. I would be thrilled if I ever had the chance to wear any of them, since the quality was as outstanding as the design. There was also a range of jewellery showcasing her trademark squiggle, puzzle and face designs, though I was most taken with the chunky two-tone perspex sunglasses.
It doesn’t appear as though you can currently buy anything other than her jewellery online, but stockists are listed in the shopping section of the Zandra Rhodes website.

I love her use of chiffon, although it takes a stronger personality than mine to carry off those prints!
I love the fact that she’s stuck to her original aesthetic.
