Embroidered 60s Dress on the Orient Express

Two weeks ago I had the mind-blowingly good fortune to spend a day travelling on the famous Orient Express with a group of chums. A full post gushing about how wonderful it all was will follow next week, but firstly here is the outfit I wore for the excursion. As you can see I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face all day.

This is one of my favourite vintage dresses. It is by a label called Trevise of Paris and is in a lovely thick black jersey. The best thing about it is the gorgeous folk style embroidery and the fringing at the hem. The thread used for the seams of the dress is quite fragile and I can’t tell you how many times I have had to mend it, but I don’t mind. When you find something that is perfect you are happy to keep on repairing as much as is needed.

Outfit details: 60s vintage dress by Trevise, black fishnet tights, 1950s black broderie anglaise kitten heel shoes, lipstick in Ruby Woo by Mac.

You are so many kinds of fabulous I can’t wrap my mind or dictionary around it. I love the dress your attitude on mending it, and the face you are timelessly gorgeous and relatable at once. Love the pics! More trains (and vintage wearing you) please!

You look gorgeous and like you belong on the Orient Express! Your hair suits you so well, it reminds me of a more glamorous Amelie. I’m looking forward to the post on your experience, I have always wanted to go on the Orient Express. When I was a child my grandma had some awful Reader’s Digest video about the history of the Orient Express and I watched it so many times it stopped working.

“Oh I SAY!”, muttered Captain Hastings. “Look at that lovely female specimen, the one with the finely turned ankle”.
“Ohhhh Hastings, it is always with you the pretty girl, but yes, she is a woman of class, just so,” replied Poirot. “You permit me mademoiselle to escort you to the dining car?”
“I must compliment you on the fine needlework of your robe and your deportment, such refinement when so many of the young women look like the garçon.”
