How do you like my bun? He was a present from artist Emma Block (who I wrote about a few weeks ago). He is fab, isn’t he – I love his little stitched monocle. Emma had quite a few of these printed bunnies leftover from an old project she had done, and via her Twitter she offered to give once each away to anyone who got in touch with her.
I’ll admit, sometimes the world gets me really, badly down. For instance, I follow Everyday Sexism on both Twitter and Facebook, and although it is inspiring that people are being encouraged to speak up for themselves, on some days it also sometimes makes me really depressed at the overwhelming amount of vicious misogyny and hatred in this world. The day my parcel of bunny-goodness arrived in the mail was such a day, so it really helped put a smile back on my face to remember that there are also sweet, kind and generous people out there, who will send a bunny through the post for no reason other than to make you smile.
I haven’t taken a picture yet, but I also received a surprise present this weekend from my friend Alex of blog Odd Socks and Pretty Frocks, a picture book about London’s grand hotels that she sent just because she came across it and thought I’d like it. Isn’t that nice? I’ve been delving into it over cups of tea and loving the photos of fancy hotels in the 80s.
Thanks again Emma and Alex, you girls rock x
