These photos were taken quite a few weeks ago now, as you can tell by the state of my hair (before it was whipped into shape by the talented Claire Hair). This is about the only outfit I managed to get photos of while we were in York – the rest of the time I was huddled up in my winter coat as it was so chilly!
We were at the Castle Museum in York, which in between exhibition spaces had an outdoor area with some old fashioned games for visitors to try their hand at. I was rather good with the cup and ball, but rotten with the hula hoop – how did I find it so easy when I was younger? It was much more useful for posing with than playing with.
The Castle Museum itself was amazing, one of the most fascinating museums I have visited in the UK. I’ll be reviewing it next week along with other interesting things to do in York, and tomorrow will be letting you in on all the best places to shop for vintage in York. So stay tuned in!
Outfit details: vintage 70s cricket jumper dress, tooled leather belt which previously belonged to my grandpa, blue tights, vintage leather brogues.

Oh what fun we had! You look fab – I especially love the third photo (will I sound all proud and boastful if I shout ‘I took that photo!’?).
You rock a jumper dress. This is a fact.
Hula hooping WAS easier as a child. So was skipping and sitting for hours cross-legged on the floor. None of these are easy to me now. This is also, sadly, a fact. *weep*
You look great- I’m with Charly on the hula-ing & sitting cross legged! Trying throwing 3 kids into the mix too- I’m suprised I can even sit down let alone cross legged!!! xXx
Hula-hooping IS hard! I have the odd go at work (one of the perks of working in a primary school – all the toys you can play with!) and always fail dismally.
I also often wear a belt that belonged to my grandfather – it’s easy to pass down dressy-up items down the female line, so it’s nice to also have something that was owned by one of the chaps who contributed to my existence!
Hooping is a life skill I have never mastered!
I love the hula hoop shots – something tells me that my grown up self is totally incapable of working one of those things…
And I always wanted to visit York – I’m sad I never got a chance to the last time I was in the UK.

That dress is amazing! I really want a 1920′s/1930′s cricket jumper. The search continues. x
Great shots. I have a hula hoop I need more practice with. Would love to be half as good as Grace Jone was at the Jubilee concert she just blew me away. And the woman is in her 60′s. Xxxx
