Several days ago, while striding through John Lewis on a mission to find a snuggly winter robe, one rack of clothes we went past made me stop and double back. One after the other I pulled things off the rail saying ‘ooh this is lovely’ ‘oh look at the detail on that’ ‘ah, this fabric is beautiful – check out the seams’. Until Mr Dreadful rightly enough lost patience and directed me firmly to the bathrobe department. The label I was so impressed with was People Tree; a brand I had summarily dismissed in the past as being one of those boring, holier than thou ethical clothing labels which are the sartorial equivalent of eating plain brown rice. Yes, some of the clothes are still a bit grimly hippy dippy. But most are actually rather fabulous; well constructed, sharply tailored, and in beautiful, good quality fabrics. These are my top picks from their current collection.
>I am a massive fan of People Tree, I think they manage to be ethical without being overly 'hippy' I particularly love the grey shirt, that is beautiful
>Great choices especially the pussybow blouse (God, I'm so predictable). People Tree is a fab make, did you see the founder on Dispatches last night?
If you want a pair of those socks let me know and I'll get you some from the Tibetans when I'm in Goa, the old ladies sit knitting them from yak's wool in the market and they are CHEAP! xxx
>I love People Tree. Keep an eye out for their end of season goody bags – it's usually £30 for a mystery bag with 4-6 pieces in and although it's obviously pot luck, I got some lovely bits last time I ordered one.
ps – they're on Quidco for extra cashback too :)
>Roo – you are more on the ball than me, how did I miss them so long!
Vix – YES!!!! Yes pretty please, that would be so great. And I can get you some Tim Tams when I go back to Australia (that is if you like chocolate). I didn't see Dispatches, was too busy catching up on teh last episode of Downton.
Alex – Quidco is awesome, I also use it every time I use ebay. You don't get much but it all adds up. And teh goody bags sound great, I willd definitely watch out for those.
>Ooh, I like the embroidered dress! This stuff IS pretty cute… :D
>I love the pink dress, wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

>Did u see the people tree grey shrug? It has all these massive knitted loops that are all over it so you look like a yetti! I sell it at work and i swoon over it all the time!!
Rianna xxxxx
>Hi Rianna – I went back and had a look, I probably overlooked it at first because it was in grey and I find that colour so dull… but the knitted loops are amazing, if only it was in bright yellow or something. Wouldn't a huge coat made the same way be amazing, then you really would be a yeti!
>So pretty! I love the purple party dress. Really reasonably priced too x
>I'm loving that piano cushion!
>The grey blouse and the Lottie dress are my favs! Lovely pics!
