I know I usually do a round-up for you guys on a Friday afternoon, but this week that has been put on hold for something even more exciting (never fear, you will have a double-dose of links next week).
Today is the first day of London 60s Week, and also the reveal of the 1960s collection I have been working on in conjunction with The Vintage Guide to London. We couldn’t think of a better way to get people excited about 60s week than actually hooking them up with some great original 60s clothing, so for the next month or so the pieces in this collection will be linked via the Vintage Guide website.
Many of the pieces I have been collecting recently are more at the specialist end of vintage – 40s and 50s day dresses, 20s and 30s evening wear, boutique designers such as Jean Varon and Jeff Banks, big name designers like Valentino and Celine. But for this collection I wanted things to be fun and affordable, so I concentrated on finding some great little crimplene mod mini dresses and floaty hippy cotton maxi dresses. There are over 60 items and prices start at £20, so there should be something for everybody. I have also included a few rarer items, like a Mary Quant for Ginger Group smock dress and a Louis Feraud for Rembrandt teal shift. The one I am most excited about is an early PVC trench coat by Paul Blanche, a really lucky find (that unfortunately doesn’t suit me, curses).
