Description
Vintage 70s or late 60s Grecian-style dress in crushed velvet from iconic label of the British Boutique movement, Clobber. The designer Jeff Banks ran the shop Clobber from 1964 to 1974. He originally stocked designers such as Ossie Clark and Foale & Tuffin, but later began designing clothes under the boutique’s own label.
This dress is in a simple draped shape and comes to about calf length. One shoulder has a gold button feature, the slash neckline is trimmed with gold braid, and the waist is elasticated. It looks as though the dress would originally have come with a belt, but this is now missing. I suspect it would have also been in gold braid to match the neck trim, so with a quick trip to a haberdashery store you could pick up a length of metallic braid to use as a belt. The waist is elasticated and the dress is unlined.
Size is a general small to medium (remember style should be draped so measurements should be a bit less). Condition is excellent (missing belt aside).
