Description
Vintage floral tea dress dating from the 30s, which feels like silk to me but might be a fine rayon. This is one of the prettiest dresses I have ever come across. The bodice has a v-neck which is trimmed with piping and cut out flowers from the dress fabric, gathering at the shoulders, shoulder pads, and elbow length sleeves. Fastens with a metal zip at the side. The waist is shirred at the front sides, and the skirt has been adorned with appliquéd flowers from the same fabric to create a 3D effect. Each flower has been carefully sewn around the edges to prevent fraying – along with all the other details, someone once put a vast amount of work into this dress.
Condition: very good. The dye on the pink flowers has run at some point, but luckily this rather matches the print of the dress anyway, so it isn’t noticeable. No other apparent issues.
