Vintage late 50s full skirted dress made in a blue and green polka dot synthetic chiffon. The bodice has a boat neck with darts and princess seams for a fitted shape, then flares out into a full prom skirt with gathering at the waist. The dress is lined but for the sleeves, which are transparent and gauzy in an elegant balloon style. The back has the original metal zip. Photographed with a petticoat underneath. The dress has a matching belt, though this is not in the pictures as I managed to mislay it on photography day. It will come with the dress though!
This very dress appeared in an American advert for AT&T phone company in 1960, named ‘Tom, Dick and Harriet’. This means the dress itself probably dates from the previous year, 1959. You can see it at 12:08 into the film, though it is worth watching the whole thing for nostalgia value.
