1940s tulle netting evening dress with applique swirls

Vintage 40s or early 50s full skirted evening dress made in a black tulle net over silky pink acetate. The bodice is boned with a fold-over detail at the bust, and flares out into a full skirt. The back has the original metal zip. The soft tulle netting is detailed with a appliquéd ribbon that has been gathered into a ‘wiggly’ ric rac style and then looped around in large swirls. The label is Busbys Bradford, which was a famous department store in the town.
General size is small. Condition is good; the main issue is that there are some small holes in the tulle where the appliqué trim has pulled at the fabric. They are only small, but because of the contrast background quite noticeable. It would be extremely difficult and time consuming to mend these, so I would say the best solution would be to dye the whole dress black. You would still see the appliqué and the layered netting, but the holes would then be invisible.
