1950s brown silk skirt suit with asymmetric fastening

Vintage skirt suit dating from the early 50s. The fibre feels to me like a fine slubbed silk – it certainly crushes very easily and this suit would be best ironed with starch. I steamed it before taking pictures and as you can see the skirt crushed again before I could put it on the mannequin. The jacket has an interesting feature of buttons which are set to one side with one lapel folding across the bodice. The domed plastic buttons feature over-sized holes and the sleeves are about three quarter length. There is a patch pocket on the right breast side. The skirt is in a simple a-line style, with a faux wrap-around at the front. Both jacket and skirt are half-lined. Label states Quality Hill.
General size is small to medium. Condition is very good.
