One of my birthday presents from Mr Dreadful was this long length red tartan shirt from Fred Perry. Fred Perry is one of his favourite brands, so he was delighted when I declared an interest in this shirt last time we poked around the store in Covent Garden. I also suspect he wants to turn me into Lol from This is England ’86 (we have already discussed the peroxide quiff, which due to my olive complexion simply would not suit).

| Note Lol’s buttoned up Fred Perry shirt |
My look wasn’t quite as sharp as Lol’s – I was going more for scrappy 60s urchin than tough 80s skin head, so no big stompy Dr Martens for me. I also wore a ton more mascara and eyeliner than I do normally, to avoid being confused for a lumberjack.
Outfit details: red Fred Perry tartan shirt, vintage 70s tooled leather belt, grey baker boy cap from Oasis, and boring old Gap jeans and red Converse.

>this isn't very appropriate but i like your little carpet :)
i also like 'this is england'… although it scares me…
i think this tartan shirt and hat would look super cool on you with a black short tube skirt, black opaque tights and either simple black doc martens or… yes yes… red patent ones :D you should think it over!
>cool shirt :)
>That is such a cute outfit – you look ready to go and do some mischief!
>I have to agree with Madamoiselle Antonova and declare an interest in your living room! I'm such a voyeur when it comes to other people's houses :)
>Love your converse! Great combination! And to answer your question regarding my necklace, it's some kind of faux fur fluffy thing, don't know how to say it. Just faux fur. Haha.

>Ooh, lovely. I try (and mostly fail) to wear checked shirts and not look like a man – think I need to be taking some tips from you! Or perhaps buying beautiful things from Ted Baker rather then cheapo ones from Primark…
>I'm clearly off my head with tiredness and should go to bed. Why else would I be thinking Fred Perry and end up typing Ted Baker?!
>i have a hard time wearing red, but you look great in it.

>Such a cute look! I love it!
PS. We should get together for a cup of tea one of these days. :)
>Thank you for commenting possums – I think you have all made Mr D very happy that his choice of shirt was such a success!
Missy Vintage, Mademoiselle Antonova and Sarah – We are just starting to get the living room how we like it after living there for almost 2 years. The big picture is of Candy Darling (I did a post on her a few weeks ago) and the little rug is a Turkish one that Mr D has had for many years.
Also, Ms Antonova – that was my second option for how to wear the shirt! I just need to get a stretchy mini skirt for myself :)
Alex – uniqlo has REALLY good tartan shirts at the moment. They are a good in between option.
>You look adorable! The converse lo-tops don't hurt it either! RED is definitely your color.
>I LOVE the Lol look! You're as sharp as her!!
So glad i found your shop, i'm always on the lookout for UK vintage sellers ;)
>You look really nice, and have to say I love your living room (or at least what I can see of it)
>That blouse is so great!!! I just saw a Tartan blouse in the store today by Ralph Lauren I think it was, but yours is so much nicer. I really like the length, and the checkered detailing is really cute. Mr Dreadful has good taste! :P
