Truth be told, that title is a lie. This isn’t really a vintage outfit at all – the dress is actually from (gasp) Marks and Spencer. And the shoes from French Connection. I did redeem myself a little though, by wearing a vintage belt and carrying a vintage clutch (not pictured). Although it isn’t true vintage I do think this dress has the shape and style of a 50s wiggle dress. I’ve put on some weight recently and was feeling quite self-conscious about wearing this dress, but Mr D convinced me I could pull it off and I’m glad he did. The vertical stripes actually made a feature of my bigger bum rather than uselessly trying to hide it away.
I wore the outfit two weeks ago to attend a friend’s wedding in Chelmsford, Essex. It was at the end of the mini-heatwave we had, and perfect weather for standing on the lawn drinking bucks fizz. As is the way with weddings, we all started off very well-behaved and a bit shy with the people we didn’t know, but by the end of the night we were having dance-offs to Run DMC and doing air guitar to Guns ‘n Roses. It was a great day.
The last photo is obviously an out-take, but I rather like it. Mr D was taking a photo just as our friend walked out of his hotel room and I looked up to wave hello, feeling rather self-conscious about my blog outfit posing.

It is a lovely shaped dress. The shoe colour sets it off really well. Good on Mr Dreadful for giving you the boost you needed. I love weddings, none for me this year though :( then again l would only be glaring at everyone else sipping Pimms or champagne!
