Vintage Tips, Tutorials and Links Round-Up

Another fortnight, another vintage link bonanza. I’m constantly amazed by how much helpful and interesting stuff bloggers write about, and how creative people can be with their outfits.

It is going to be a weekend of work for me, other than having a few friends over for a cuppa tomorrow. I am in the middle of trying to set up my accounting system, and as anyone who knows me will tell you, maths is NOT my strong point. Even worse, I have to go back and check my banking history to work out exactly how much of my own money I’ve already put into the business. I should have set up a proper system long ago but because I am so rubbish at this sort of thing I’ve been avoiding it. Are any of you up to anything more interesting than Excel columns and bank statements?
In the meantime, here are the things I’ve found interesting over the past two weeks. Hope you all have great weekends!
I have been asked so often recently about where to get vintage knitting patterns. By a great coincidence, my friend Fiona is in the process of clearing out her collection and is putting loads into her Etsy shop. They are really well priced at only £2 each and I love her selection, so if you’ve been on the hunt for vintage knitting patterns be sure to look in her store.
From The Women’s Room, a fab new card game called ‘Super Strumps’, which is a tongue in cheek take on Top Trumps using women’s stereotypes. “Career Woman can ‘penetrate glass ceilings’, the Grande Dame can ‘summon armies’, the fishwife can ‘destroy with one word’ and the Essex girl is ‘invulnerable to cold’.” It sounds great fun!
Tuppence Ha’penny has picked out the best vintage style shoes on the high street. She has me severely tempted on several pairs!
I’ve been lucky enough to be interviewed by two lovely bloggers recently. The first was with my friend Gemma of Retro Chick, and the second with Leah at Couture Arabesque.  Pop on over if you’d like to read about my style ‘secrets’ (ha!).

This picture of Solanah is the epitome of 70s chic. She normally dresses in 1940s gear, but shows she can do the 70s just as well in this classic Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress.
Pictures and biography of 19th century dancer and icon Cleo De Merode from French Sampler. Isn’t she a beauty? I’d never even heard of her before.
